Product Details

A superb Model A56 Tolix chair from the 1950s. It has a 'fire engine red' patina that is wonderfully timeworn. A fun choice as a guest room or bathroom chair. It can be used indoors or outdoors.

Tolix chairs, an iconic symbol of industrial design, were created by French metalworker Xavier Pauchard in 1934. Pauchard, who pioneered the use of galvanized steel in furniture, founded the Tolix company in Autun, Burgundy.

Among the various models, the Model A chair stands out for its durability, stackability, and minimalist design, making it popular in cafés, factories, hospitals, and offices across France. In 1956, Pauchard introduced the Model A56, a variation of the original Model A chair. The A56 featured armrests, offering enhanced comfort while maintaining the same robust and practical design. Made from sheet metal, both models were designed to withstand heavy use and harsh environments, making them practical and stylish.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
